Mark Ames BVSc CertVOphthal Cert VDI MRCVS
Mark Ames first joined the practice in 2001. Between June 2016 and March 2018 he worked alongside an ophthalmic specialist at Eastcott vets in Swindon and he returned to the practice in March 2018.
Mark holds RCVS certificates in both Ophthalmology and Diagnostic Imaging.
Peter Eastwick-Field MA VetMB MRCVS
Peter first came to this practice as a 15 year old schoolboy to see whether a career as a vet would be to his liking and he was hooked from the first day.
He qualified at Cambridge University in 1986 and began working as a vet straight away. He spent six years gaining experience in practices in the south-east before returning to Newbury in 1992. Three years later he became a Partner and has been responsible for the small animal side of the partnership ever since.
He has a particular interest in surgery and diagnostic imaging though, after 24 years as a vet, he has a broad experience in all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery.

Shaun Ferneley MA VetMB CertSAS MRCVS
Shaun graduated from Cambridge University in 1995 and worked in mixed practice in Kent and Surrey before joining the practice in 2002. He became a partner in 2011 and helps to run the small animal department. He has a special interest in small animal surgery, especially, but not limited to, the field of orthopaedics. He has undergone additional study in this field and performs a number of advanced procedures. Shaun is willing to see surgical referrals from other practices. He also works in our farm department. Shaun may be seen at our Newbury, Tadley or Thatcham branches. Additional qualifications: Shaun gained the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2006. He is recognised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as an Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery

Will Hodge BVSc CertSAS MRCVS
Will graduated from Bristol University in 2000. After a few years of mixed practice in Wiltshire he has since gained significant experience as a small animal vet in London and West Berkshire. He joined Donnington Grove in 2018 as a partner having been head surgeon and Clinical Director of his previous hospital based practice. Will enjoys all aspects of pet care but has a special interest in surgery, specifically orthopaedics including arthroscopy, fracture repair and joint disease including cruciate ligament repair.
Will gained his Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2009, and is a RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery.
Hannah Mirfin BVM&S MRCVS
Hannah graduated from Edinburgh University in 1999 and joined the practice in 2004 after working in mixed practice in Lincolnshire. Hannah has a special interest in anaesthesia and is currently working towards the RCVS Certificate in Anaesthesia. She is also one of our Nurse Training Supervisors.

Kathryn Bramwell BVM&S MRCVS
Kat graduated from the Roayal (Dick) Veterinary College, Edinburgh in 2015 and spent 18 months working in a mixed practice in the Lake District. Kat joined us in January 2017 and works as part of the small animal team.
Aaron Higgins BVSc MRCVS
Aaron qualified from Liverpool University in 2014 and joined the practice in May 2018 having worked for another nearby practice. He has a particular interest in medicine and is studying for the BSAVA Certificate in Small Animal Medicine.
Samantha Loane MA VetMB MRCVS
Sam graduated from Cambridge University in 2011 and joined the practice in 2011. We have known her at the practice for much longer than this as she is a local girl and saw practice with us for a number of years whilst doing her training.
Sam has a keen interest in Small Animal Internal Medicine and passed the BSAVA Certificate in Small Animal Medicine in December 2016 with a distinction. She has a wealth of knowledge to help diagnose and treat the more difficult medical cases and is keen to apply her knowledge.
Amy Radford BVSc MRCVS
Amy qualified from Liverpool University in 2014 and joined the practice in February 2015. She worked for 6 months in a small animal practice in Hampshire before joining the team here. She has an interest in small animal medicine.
Hannah Ward BSc (Hons) BVMS MRCVS
Hannah qualified from Glasgow University in 2005. She works in the small animal department and joined the practice in August 2010.
Naomi Murdock BVetMed MRCVS
Naomi joined DGVG in July 2017, following a year working in small animal practice in Wales, after graduating from Dublin in 2016.
She enjoys all aspects of small animal veterinary work, with a particular interest in small animal medicine.
Most of her spare time is spent travelling, she also enjoy exploring the beaches of the south coast of England.
Jo McKendry BSc BVSc MRCVS
Jo qualified from Bristol University in 2015 and joined the small animal team in August 2017. She is originally from Oxford and has a particular interest in small animal medicine. She is particularly fond of cats and big dogs. In her spare time she enjoys west coast swing and modern jive dancing, walking, crafting, photography and gardening.
Nicola Blaney RVN A1 NCert(A&CC) MBVNA (Practice Head Nurse and Senior Small Animal Nurse)
Nicola joined the practice in 1998 where she trained and acheived her RVN qualification and has enjoyed being a part of this growing practice throughout the years.
She has fulfilled many roles during her time at the practice and in 2003 was hugely involved with the exciting challenge of setting up what was a new branch practice at Tadley. Since then she has attained A1 qualification and is involved with mentoring our trainee nurses throughout their VN training. Nicola reached Head Nurse status within the practice and is responsible for a team of 27 nurses (in both the Equine and Small Animal Departments) as well as the day to day running of the latter. This role requires a lot of patience, understanding and organisation in order to ensure our nurses remain a well motivated and happy team! More recently Nicola achieved her Certificate in Anaesthesia and Critical Care in 2013.
Outside of work she enjoys doing some fun agility with Harry, her rescued boarder collie, whom has also become a part of the practice and is often found relaxing under her desk.
Vicky Morey RVN (Deputy Head Nurse)
Vicky started with the practice in August 2000, when she was 16. Since qualifing as a nurse 2007. Vicky has gained her C-SQP qualifications, and became a clinical coach so she could be involved in training the student nurses. She spent several years as the Senior nurse at our Thatcham Branch before moving back to the Newbury branch to take on the role of Deputy Head nurse 2016. Vicky shares her spare time with her 30 year old horse Reggie, cat Billy, and whatever time is left is spent with her husband, Andy!
Lucy Mapplebeck RVN (Senior Clinical Nurse)
Lucy has been working for Donnington Grove since Febuary 2010. She completed all her training with us and is now one of the senior members of the team. She has particular interest in nutrition and runs very succesful weight clinics. She enjoys training the newer nurses and is currently a clinical coach, looking after two student nurses. Lucy has a rescued Bichon Frise called Blossom, who she aquired through the practice and an elderly Labrador called Jarvis. Lucy more recently has taken over the marketing of the practice.
Tracey Organ RVN C-SQP MBVNA (Senior Ward Nurse)
After a career in the Civil Service, Tracey joined the practice as a mature student nurse in 1999. She completed her studies at the Berkshire college of Agriculture and became the Senior ward nurse in 2003. She gained her C-SQP qualification in 2007 and has also completed a small animal dentistry course enabing her to run dental clinics at Newbury our Newbury centre. Tracey shares her life with a handsome black labrador called Lenny, an elderly orange and white cat, Ethan, and her husband!
Lisa Stevens RVN (Senior Nurse Thatcham)
Lisa recently joined the practice in October 2016, to take on the role of Senior Thatcham nurse. Lisa started her career as a Veterinary Nurse in October 2000 and gained her qualification in 2004 with MYF training. Since then Lisa has worked at various different practices gaining further knowledge and experience in different sectors, includimg 7 years at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in Old Windsor. She has 2 pet dumbo rats called Dilly and Dottie.
Hannah Martin RVN
Hannah joined the practice in 2005 and qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2009. She has a keen interest in emergency and critical care patents. She is married, has a young daughter, two dogs and a horse who keep her busy in her spare time.
Abby McKay RVN
After a career in horse racing, Abby joined the practice in 2002 and qualified as a Registered Veterinary nurse in 2005, since qualifing she has gained her C-SQP qualification in 2007. She is now one of our part time nurses. She spends her time out of work with her 2 children, her cat called Oscar and her dog Wiggle.
Michelle Nash RVN
Michelle joined the practice in 2011 and qualified in 2015. She enjoys all aspects of nursing and finds it especially rewarding to nurse pets back to health and see them reunited with their owners. She is married, has a young son and a rather excitable terrier named Oscar.
Kelly Rolfe-Jones RVN
After a career in yachting Kelly jonined the practice in March 2007 as a mature student nurse. She qualified at Sparsholt College in 2009 and gained her C-SQP qualification the same year. In 2016 she became a clinical coach and currently looks after 2 student nurses. In her spare time she plays for a local netball team and has a husband, 2 children and a naughty, adopted dog called Henry.
Sarah Slater RVN
Sarah is a qualified Veterinary Nurse who joined the practice in April 2018. She gained her nursing qualification in 2012 and worked at two referral practices and in general practice before coming to work for our small animal department.
Naomi Turley RVN
After following a career in outdoor education Naomi qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2014 working at vets practices in the South West. Naomi joined Donnington Grove in 2017 and enjoys general nursing alongside nurse clinics and has an interest in nutrition and dental care. When not at work Naomi loves exploring the outdoors and cuddles with her cat Mr Chops.
Rachel joined the practice as an Animal Nursing Assistant in September 2015. She then progressed tobecome a student veterinary nurse in December 2015. Rachel started college in January 2017. She lives with her cat Bessie, labrador called Rosie, 2 guinea pigs and 4 chickens. She has recently taken on 2 rabbits from the practice that neede a new home!
Frances joined the practice in May 2017 as an Animal Nursing Assistant and moved Trainee Veterinary Nurse in April 2018
Lauren joined us in Febuary 2015 and is now in her 2nd year of veterinary nurse training. Before starting at Donnington Grove, Lauren was a kennel assistant at The Barn Animal Hospital and worked part time at a private hospital as a Physiotherapy assistant. In Lauren's spare time she enjoys going on dog walks and socialising. She has a cat, dog and nine chickens.
Libby joined the practice as an Animal Nursing Assistant in Feburary 2016 and moved to a nurse training position in May 2017.
Libby previously worked at a farm locally as an animal keeper.
Her spare time is taken up with her horse Splash, cat called Stevie, and 3 dogs Ruby, Sophie and Sammy. Libby is also fluent in British Sign language.
Hannah has been working for the practice since August 2015, starting as an Animal Nursing Assistant. In January 2016 she beacame a trainee Veterinary Nurse, and started college in 2017. When she's not at work she spends her time running around after her precious cat, seeing to all her demands.
Kim joined the practice in February 2015 as a trainee veterinary nurse and has done all her training here at Donnington Grove and has recently qualified as a fully trained veterinary Nurse. Outside of work Kim enjoys agility training with her Border collie, Harley. She is also a qualified scuba diving instructor and regularly goes scuba diving around the UK.
Louise originally joined the practice in January 2016 as an equine trainee nurse, but has recently decided that small animals are for her and is now working as a trainee small animal nurse. She has two horses, Bea and Otto. As well as 3 dogs, Tilly, Dandy and Molly.
Claire joined the practice in October 2015 as an Animal Nursing Assistant. In August 2016 she became a trainee nurse and is looking forward to starting her training in September 2017. Claire trained at Sparsholt college for an extended Diploma in Animal Management. At home she has a Bearded dragon called Thorn, and a rescue cat called Chester.
Tiffany Barrett (Animal Nursing Assistant)
Tiff joined the practice in April 2016 as a Small Animal Nursing Assistant. She previously worked at Pets At Home, gaining valuable knowledge on a range of small animals and a dog nutrition certificate. Outside of work she enjoys long walks with Murphy, her Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and spending time with her adopted Degu called Dave.
Lindsey Morris (Animial Nursing Assistant)
Lily Oliver (Animal Nursing Assistant)
Linda worked in the horse racing industry before joining the practice in 1998.
Linda is married with two sons and five grandchildren and spends all her spare time looking after her rescue dogs Connie & Seb.
Hannah Farley formerly worked for the practice as an Animal Nursing Assistant, but after maternity leave has returned as a receptionist.
Laura has worked for the practice at our Donnington Surgery since 2003.
She lives in Thatcham, is married with a young daughter and has three cats. Laura is also a Parelli student with qualifications in Natural Horsemanship.
Tracey has been with the practice for over 17 years and currently works at both our Newbury and Thatcham surgeries.
She is married and has two children, lives on a trout farm and has qualifications from Sparsholt College in Agriculture and Dairying.
Although working full time at Donnington Grove Reception since about 10 years, you find her always in a brilliant mood. She has done a qualification in Computer Studies at Oxford Brooks.
Newly happily married she lives in Newbury.
