The practice has a variety of different flexible endoscopes which are used for different types of investigation.

  • Upper respiratory tract investigation and tracheal washes are normally carried out in yards, and many of the vets involved with racing work will carry a suitable endoscope routinely.
  • Gastroscopy can be carried out at the clinic or at a yard and allows a thorough examination of the oesophagus and stomach.
  • Endoscopy can be used for gynaecological examinations and uterine biopsy in mares that do not readily conceive.
  • Overground endoscopy is used for dynamic investigation of the upper respiratory tract.
